From a question, a lot of late nights and two veterans to a modern PMS for every operator
SeaVesselManager began with a question anyone who has worked with maintenance systems at sea will recognise: why does planned maintenance software still feel so heavy, so expensive and so hard to change?
It was asked by Gurtej Singh Bains, a Norway-based software engineer with more than 10 years in maritime technology. He had spent his career inside vessel maintenance and fleet management systems, including long-term work with TM Master V2, one of the world's leading planned maintenance systems.
Working closely with ship operators and maritime organisations, he saw the same pattern again and again. The systems had served the industry well, but they were expensive, closed platforms on legacy technology that was hard to modernise.
The tide turned
At the same time, the sea itself was getting connected. Reliable internet is now available far out at sea, and that opens the door to a new generation of maritime software: fast, modern and built for the way crews and offices really work together.
So he started building. SeaVesselManager was designed from day one with a modern architecture that separates frontend and backend, so it can scale and evolve with the technology around it. It was built independently over several years, often in the evenings and late at night, by someone who simply wanted better tools for the people who keep ships running.
Veterans join the voyage
Along the way he met two people who had spent their careers on the other side of the same problem. Erik Staubo, former CEO of CFARER, and Nicolay Henschien, both of whom he met at Tero Marine. Together they bring more than half a century of experience with PMS systems.
They know what a crew needs in the middle of a night watch and what an owner needs on a Monday morning. That knowledge is what turns a good piece of software into one that works on a real ship.
Within reach of everyone
The goal is simple: to make a modern PMS accessible to everyone in the maritime industry.
That is why the Community Edition is free for fleets of up to 4 vessels, with every module included. Fleets that grow can move to paid plans with unlimited vessels, support, training and managed hosting, so you only pay more when your operation needs more.
